BGI Australia Laboratory

BGI Australia opened a laboratory in May 2017 which is also BGI’s first genomics laboratory located in the southern hemisphere. The laboratory hosts BGI’s proprietary sequencing platform including BGISEQ-500 (Zebra) and MGISEQ-2000 (Panda), which have also received CFDA (China Food and Drug Administration) certification recently in July 2018. The state of the art facility currently has the capacity to sequence approximately 1,800 Whole genome sequencing samples or about 40,000 RNA-seq samples per year and is anticipating the addition of more sequencers to double the throughput. Since the debut BGI Australia Laboratory focuses on serving for diverse local research collaborations, e.g. sequencing samples for RNA-seq, Whole Genome Sequencing, Exome, ChiP-seq and Methyl-seq applications.

BGI Sequencer MGISEQ-2000 Debut in the Southern Hemisphere

BGI Sequencers

BGISEQ-500 "Zebra"

BGISEQ-500 is an industry leading high-throughput sequencing solution, powered by combinatorial Probe-Anchor Synthesis (cPAS) and improved DNA Nanoballs (DNB) technology. As an open sequencing platform that provides end-to-end solutions.

MGISEQ-2000 "Panda"

MGISEQ-2000 adopts a novel chip system that supports various modes of sequencing and is integrated with optimally designed optical and biochemical systems to execute the sequencing process within a relatively shorter time for a more streamlined sequencing experience for the user.

MGISEQ-200 "Cub"

MGISEQ-200 is a miniature sequencer that transcends geographical restrictions. MGISEQ-200 adopts a whole new biochemical system design to support rapid sequencing in various different reads modes.
